The 1992 U.S. Olympic Men’s
Basketball Team was commonly referred to as the “Dream Team” after winning an Olympic gold medal and logging a perfect 8-0 record at the Olympic Games Barcelona 1992. It was also the first U.S. Olympic team to include NBA players, thereby giving audiences a sense of Basketball at its best. Led by coach Chuck Daly, the roster included 11 hall of fame players and has since been dubbed the greatest sports team ever assembled. The Americans beat their competition at the Games by an average of 44 points and attracted plenty of fans with its three all-time Basketball greats: Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. The roster also included NBA All-Stars Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen,
David Robinson, Clyde Drexler, John Stockton and Christian Laettner. They earned their gold medal in the championship round with a 117-85 win over Croatia.
