David “The Admiral” Robinson is a three-time Olympian and three-time Olympic medalist who played center for the San Antonio Spurs throughout his NBA career. He is a 10-time NBA All-Star, two-time NBA champion, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and a two-time Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, as an individual and a member of the 1992 U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team, commonly referred to as the “Dream Team.” Born in Key West, Florida, Robinson attended the U.S. Naval Academy and was a consensus All-American in his final two years of collegiate Basketball. As a winner of the Naismith and Wooden Awards, Robinson led the Midshipmen to an Elite Eight berth in 1986 NCAA Tournament. He began his NBA career in the 1989-90 season, unanimously won the 1995 MVP Award and made 10 All-Star teams as a member of the San Antonio Spurs. Robinson's Olympic debut came in 1988, and was then a central piece of the 1992 Dream Team, winning his first Olympic gold medal at the Olympic Games Barcelona 1992. He won his second gold medal at the Atlanta 1996 Games. Robinson retired from the NBA in 2003, after winning his second NBA title with the Spurs. He has since founded and funded The Carver Academy in San Antonio, a non-profit private school for inner-city students.
