Sean Burns may only be 17 years old, but he’s got a wealth of experience under his belt in the sport of track & field.

Burns has been competing since the age of four and is recognized as one of the top junior wheelchair racers in theUnited States.  He recently had the chance to test his talents on the international stage, competing at the 2010 International Wheelchair & Amputee Sports Federation Junior World Championships in the Czech Republic.  Burns came away with two gold medals.

Racing in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m events at the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships, Burns will be competing at the senior elite level for the first time.  However, being a rookie isn’t keeping Burns from setting his sights high.  He says his goal for the world championships is to win a medal and long-term, he’s aiming to make Team USA to compete at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.
