Career Highlights
2005 World and U.S. Outdoor Championships bronze medalist; 4-time USA Outdoor champion (99, 00, 01, 02); 2003 World Outdoor silver medalist; 5th at 1999 & 2001 World Championships; 2nd at 2002 World CupGlover set career best at the age of 36 in winning the bronze medal in the women's 400m final at the 2005 World Outdoor Championships in Helsinki. She also grabbed a bronze medal at the 2005 USA Outdoor Championships… had an outstanding 2004 outdoor campaign winning at several international meets and earning a #1 world ranking from Track & Field News, despite failing to make the Olympic Team…Glover started running track in the eighth grade…she says she didn’t even hear about summer age group track until she got to college and heard other athletes talking about it… her relatively late start in the sport made her a late bloomer: ‘I was not a top-ranked high school athlete who was highly recruited.’ She got a scholarship to Stephen F. Austin, and transferred to Houston two years later, where she earned her degree in elementary education...she taught second grade at Hunters Glen Elementary in 1999-2000...Glover took a year off from teaching following the 2000 Olympics, she returned to the classroom in Fall 2001...maiden name was Cummings...married to Don Glover, who is her coach… ‘It took a while for me to get used to working and training. I used to get to the track around 5pm. My husband would pay attention to my coaches, Mike Takaha, Tom Tellez, Victor Lopez. He started learning more about it and reading.’
