BIOGRAPHY
Owner of more halfpipe titles than any other rider in history, including a gold medal at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games and a 1998 Olympic bronze medal, Ross Powers has made a return to snowboarding, only in a different discipline, and now has his sights set on making the U.S. Olympic team and competing in the 2010 Games.

UPDATE
Powers made quite the splash on the snowboardcross scene in the 2009 season - big enough to land him back on the U.S. Snowboarding roster. Powers decided to take on the sport, a departure from his halfpipe history, and worked his way through Rev Tour competitions to finally qualify for the U.S. World Cup tour stop. It was there in Sunday River, Maine, where Powers fired up the crowd with dominating racing that landed him on the World Cup Podium.

FIRST TRACKS
Powers was born and raised in Londonderry, Vt. Considered snowboarding's first child prodigy, he competed in his first U.S. Open competition at the age of 9 with his fourth grade class in attendance. He competed in nationals the next year and was a World champion before his 18th birthday. In 1998, he represented the U.S. in Nagano, taking home the first Olympic halfpipe medal for the U.S. Powers dominates the snowboard world having won almost every title in snowboarding, including Olympic gold in 2002.
