Biographical Information

Maddie Mastro is a professional American snowboarder who specializes in half pipe events. Born in Wrightwood, California, she began skiing at the age of two and later transitioned to snowboarding at six. Maddie has an older brother who she says helped shape her into the person and rider she is today. Mastro's early passion for the sport led her to join the Mammoth Mountain Snowboard Team, where she honed her skills in halfpipe competitions.

Mastro made her Olympic debut at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, finishing 12th in the women's halfpipe event. She continued to compete at the highest levels, participating in the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, where she placed 13th. At the 2019 FIS Snowboard World Championships in Park City, Utah, Mastro secured a bronze medal in the halfpipe, marking a significant milestone in her career.

In 2019, Mastro made history by becoming the first woman to land a double crippler 900 in competition during the Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships, where she secured the gold medal. She has also earned medals at the X Games and world championships, including a bronze at the 2018 X Games in Aspen and a silver at the 2021 FIS Snowboard World Championships.

In January 2025, at the Laax Open, Mastro became one of the first two women to land a double cork 1080 in a snowboard halfpipe competition, executing a frontside double cork 1080 after fellow snowboarder Chloe Kim landed a cab double cork 1080 earlier that day.

Maddie is also passionate about sharing content that focuses on empowerment and is candid about mental health. In 2023, Maddie posted a video of herself after shaving her hair. She said that it was a way to show people that they should do whatever makes them happy and have confidence in their decision. She stated, “It doesn’t matter what you look like, just be you.”
