Laura began her ski career at age 13 as part of a high school team in Western Massachusetts.  After three years she enrolled at the Green Mountain Valley School in Waitsfield, Vermont to pursue skiing at a higher level and begin competing in biathlon races.  In 2005 she qualified for her first Junior World Championships in Kontiolahti, Finland.  After graduating from high school she spent one year training with the Junior National Biathlon Team in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.  The next fall she enrolled at Dartmouth College, skiing for the Dartmouth Ski Team for one season before deciding to return to biathlon.  She split the year between school and the competition season, spending spring and summer in Hanover, New Hampshire, and fall and winter training and racing with Maine Winter Sports Center.  Being named to the 2008 Senior World Championship team enabled Laura to earn a spot on the 2008/2009 National A Team.  She graduated from Dartmouth College in August 2011 with a B.A. in Biological Sciences and a minor in Jewish Studies, and now trains out of Lake Placid, New York.
