• In 1994, the 12-year-old Wendell became the fifth girl to compete at the Little League World Series when she started at catcher for Brooklyn Center (Minn.)
• Former Minnesota governor and professional wrestler Jesse Ventura was once the mayor of her town in Minnesota (Brooklyn Park) and is the most famous person Wendell has met so far in her life
• Averaged an astounding 4.21 goals per game while attending Park Center (Minn.) High School where she played for three years, one of which was on the boys team, totaling 335 points in 62 games
• In 1997, she nearly severed her left thumb when a teammate accidentally stepped on it with his skate blade

It's Every Day
She grew up competing with her older brother, Erik, and considers him her hero. "I've always looked up to him. He's been so supportive, bringing me along when I was younger to play street hockey with his friends," Wendell said.
