  • Katlyn was born with Fibular Hemimelia which resulted in scoliosis and her right leg was amputated at 8-years-old
  • In 5th Grade, Katlyn was invited by her Special Education program to go to Alyeska Ski Resort
  • It was there that she joined an adaptive race program called Challenge Alaska, which she trained with throughout high school
  • Daughter of Jim Maddry and LeAnn Maddry
  • Katlyn has four siblings: Annaka, Elena, Hannah, and Joseph Maddry
  • Before she began snowboarding Katlyn participated in State chess competitions
  • Her favorite sporting moment was competing in the Dual Bank Slalom in 2021, "My riding was on fire, and I was just so happy to be there."
  • The first adaptive athlete she met was Keith Gabel in 2014 at the Hartford Ski Spectacular
  • The two have since become friends
  • Katlyn loves his positive attitude and his willingness to support her and other athletes on the slopes
  • Her favorite thing about snowboarding is that there's always room for improvement and new challenges to overcome
  • In three words, Katlyn would describe herself as: fun, loving, and a go-getter
  • She is known to her friends as Katy
  • Katy is a full-time student (undergoing an Architecture Degree), athlete and server at Buffalo Wild Wings.
