The Mabelton, Georgia native is one of the most prolific scorers in German handball. In the 2009/2010 season, he became the first ever player to score 300 goals in the 4th Division.

He started playing handball for the Condor Handball Club which is based out of Atlanta, GA. He had a brief spell with Tolimar Tres de Mayo in the Spanish 2nd Division before he moved to DJK Waldbuettelbrunn where he set the scoring record. After two seasons with the club, he moved up a division to play with HSC Bad Neustadt.

"Hangtime" Hines has been a regular contributer for the Men's National Team and starred for the team in the Three Nations Tournament against Ireland, Luxembourg, and 2nd Division German side Bad Schwartau.

In high school, Hines competed in basketball and track and field. He won the State Championship in the high jump with a 6'10" clearance which remains a school record. At 14 years old, he was introduced to team handball at the Tony Matthews Boys & Girls Club. He made the USA Junior Men's National Team at 16 and Senior Men's National Team at 18.

Hines was featured in Sports Illustrated "Faces In The Crowd" for Team handball in 2004, and received the Hometown Hero award in March 2004 for his work in the community, accomplishments, and being a leader to young people through the Boys & Girls Club.

 

Hines has also competed on his favorite TV Show, German Ninja Warrior in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He has reached the semi-finals and finals on the competition show.
