Scott Hamilton was an American figure skater and Olympic gold medalist. The Bowling Green, Ohio, native had his breakthrough figure skating performance at the 1981 U.S. Championships. After winning gold to a rousing standing ovation, Hamilton never lost an amateur competition again. He would win four consecutive world championships and four consecutive U.S. championships. Then, at the Olympic Winter Games Sarajevo 1984, Hamilton dominated the competition to win the gold medal. After turning professional, Hamilton created the “Stars on Ice” tour and served as a broadcaster for NBC. He also founded the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation and has written several books.
