Frequently Asked Questions
National Governing Bodies and members of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic communities may nominate Olympians, Paralympians, teams, legends and special contributors for the hall of fame through a private form on TeamUSA.org during the official nomination window. All complete and eligible nominations are shared with the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame Nominating Committee for consideration. The nominating committee then narrows down the field and selects the finalists for the hall of fame ballot, which includes the Olympian, Paralympian, Team, Legend and Special Contributor categories. Finalists are voted on by members of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic families, National Governing Bodies and Team USA fans. When the voting window closes, vote totals of all three groups are compiled, determining the next class of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Hall of Fame.

The nominating committee then narrows down the field for all categories of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Hall of Fame.
Members of the nominating committee represent the following areas of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic movements: U.S. Olympians and Paralympians Association, Team USA Athletes’ Commission, Paralympic Advisory Council, sports representatives, media, USOPC executive, USOPC Board of Directors, and one at-large committee member.
A new class of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Hall of Fame will be inducted every two years. The last induction occurred in 2022 and resumes in 2025.Previously, classes were inducted annually between 1983-92, and every two years from 2004-12
Five Olympians, three Paralympians, two legends, one Olympic team, one Paralympic team, one Olympic or Paralympic coach and one special contributor. The number of individual spots reflects the U.S. team sizes at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
