WOMEN'S FIELD HOCKEY AT THE PAN AM GAMES

Boasting a young squad that's full of grit, the U.S. Women’s National Team returns only five veterans from the Pan American Games Lima 2019. Headed by co-captains Amanda Golini and Ashley Hoffman, they are joined by goalkeeper Kelsey Bing, Linnea Gonzales and Danielle Grega. The women used the 2022-23 FIH Hockey Pro League as a benchmark to play some of the world’s best teams as they build towards Santiago 2023. Although they finished the season at the bottom of the pool, their competitiveness and drive make them a contender in all matches.

During the 2019 Pan American Games, the U.S. Women’s National Team won their second bronze medal. The women’s team has won gold twice (2011, 2015) and the silver medal five times. Argentina currently holds the top spot for women, having won seven gold medals. Team USA is slated to face Argentina, their toughest pool opponent, on Oct. 28. The United States will also face Trinidad & Tobagoon Oct. 26 and Uruguay on Oct. 30.

  • Amanda Golini — Co-captain and midfield workhorse, Golini will be one to watch during the 2023 Pan American Games. She is constantly all over the field and known for her work ethic.
  • Kelsey Bing — USWNT’s goalkeeper and well-known on the international stage, Bing has an eye for making unbelievable saves between the goal posts. Her presence is almost immediately felt against opponents.
  • Ashley Sessa — Although with just 26 caps, Sessa has already made a name for herself at theinternational level. After a stint on the U-21 USWNT, where she helped them win gold at the 2023 Junior Pan American Championship in April, she has been a threat on offense for USA.
  • Abigail Tamer — Having only joined the USWNT in March, Tamer has scored two goals in just 10 international caps. A gritty and scrappy player, she has a nose for the goal and her fierceness will show at the 2023 Pan American Games.

The winner of the women’s tournament at the 2023 Pan American Games qualifies for the Olympic Games Paris 2024. The teams that come in second, third and fourth will be placed in an FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier in January 2024.

We view ourselves as one ‘united’ group and whatever players in a game, series or tournament represent the whole United Eagles squad.
