  • Made the All-Tournament team of the 18 Open division at the 2007 Boys' Junior Nationals as he led his Outrigger Canoe Club team to the bronze medal
  • Won the gold medal at the 2007 AAU Junior National Beach Volleyball Under-20 Championship with Riley McKibbin, who would later be a teammate at USC
  • Attended Academy of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii, but played for Maryknoll High because AOP did not have a volleyball team. Helped Maryknoll win the 2006 Division II state volleyball title as a senior
