Biographical Information
Tara Davis-Woodhall is a track and field athlete, specializing in hurdling and the long jump Born to a former Track and Field athlete (her father), she was destined for greatness in the sport and began running at the young age of four. A graduate of Agoura High School, where she first competed in Track and Field, Davis-Woodhall went on to attend the University of Georgia and then transferred to the University of Texas.
Outside of her life on the track, Davis-Woodhall runs a successful YouTube channel.
Olympic Highlights
Tara Davis-Woodhall qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with a record of 7.04 meters in the long jump event. She competed in the finals and secured the 6th position with a jump of 6.84 meters.
In the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, she beat out the defending long jump champion to win gold, becoming the fourth American to place first in the long jump event.
World Championship Highlights
Davis-Woodhall finished first place in the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow in 2024 with a jump of 7.07 meters. In the World Athletics Championships held in Budapest in 2023, she won the silver medal in the long jump event.
U.S. Championship Highlights
In 2023, Davis-Woodhall won the national long jump title at the USA Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque with a jump of 6.99 meters. In 2021, she set a collegiate record at the Texas Relays by jumping 7.14 meters.
Early Career
In her early years, Davis-Woodhall broke the high school record for the indoor long jump at the Dumanis Sports Group Prep Classic in Frisco, TX in 2017. At the CIF California State Meet in 2017, she won three gold medals and set a national high school record in the 100m hurdles with a time of 12.83 seconds. Her state record in the long jump also surpassed the 24-year-old record held by Olympian Marion Jones.
In 2017, she was named Ventura County Track and Field Athlete of the Year, running the 100m hurdles in 12.89 seconds.
