Personal
Diagnosed at birth with cerebral palsy, Michael was taught to have a huge drive and a sense of adventure... Growing up, his parents were determined to help give him everything he needs to adapt certain hurdles due to his cerebral palsy along with finding the joy in it... No matter what he’s doing, Michael always has a smile on his face and is most likely having fun... Having earned a Bachelors degree in Visual Communication and Design from Eastern Washington University, he loves to create and be creative in whatever he does... Michael is from the Pacific Northwest and has been immersed in outdoor action sports ever since he was a kid... Snowboarding and cycling have always been his passions... In 2019, Michael got introduced to the Para Track and Field world by Parasport Spokane, which provides training and competitive opportunities for athletes with disabilities... Though it is more popular overseas, Frame Running came into his life via Parasport Spokane... His frame runner helps stabilize him so he can sprint down the track without worry for losing his balance... Taking all his athleticism and the desire to progress from snowboarding and Cycling, and pouring it into frame running led him to being the American record holder for the 100m sprint... In 2023, Michael was the first American male frame runner to compete at the world championship level... His goals are to help grow the sport and hopefully see it included in a Paralympic Games...
