Quick Facts
  • Growing up in Huntsville, Alabama, Harmon didn’t see a lot of snow in her hometown until her dad first took her skiing on a Girl Scout trip when she was seven-years-old. To Harmon it didn’t matter that the tiny resort in Northern Alabama only had 150 feet of vertical drop, she loved spending time on the slopes. While in college at the University of Alabama at Huntsville, Harmon was riding her motorcycle when she was hit by a car and lost her leg on March 12, 2009. Within two weeks of her accident, she was walking with a prosthesis and was snowboarding six months later. Since then, Harmon has been a strong part of Team USA on the international and national level. She landed a spot on her first Paralympic Team in 2014, competing against the best in Sochi. In addition to training, Harmon also works as a quality engineer on rocket motor construction
