Quick Facts
Son of Warren and Claire Braun, Braun was born with spinal bifida. A native of Jamaica, Braun was abandoned in a trash bin as an infant and eventually adopted by a missionary from Minnesota after being in an orphanage. He was introduced to adaptive sports through the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in Minnesota. He was the first athlete to compete in wheelchair track and field after the Minnesota High School league expanded to allow wheelchair athletes. In his free time, Braun enjoys basketball, golfing, music and playing sports. He also volunteers for a local recreational adaptive sports program. In 2015, Braun represented the Western All-Star Team as a participant in the 2015 NBA/NWBA All-Star Game in Brooklyn New York and was honored by the Minnesota Timberwolves. In the future, Braun hopes to become a coach of other athletes. He has seven siblings: Jennifer, Lucas, Meri, Michael, Penni, Sabrina and Victoria.
