Biographical Information

Evan Bates is an American ice dancer known for his longevity and success in the sport with his skating partner, Madison Chock. Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he began skating at the young age of four. In 2011, Bates partnered with Chock, forming one of the most successful ice dance duos in U.S. history. The two are renowned for their Olympic and world championship performances, earning several gold medalist and championship titles.

In the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, he secured a gold medal in the team event. Throughout his career, he has achieved significant success with Madison, including multiple World Championship titles and Grand Prix Final victories.

Outside of his skating career, Bates enjoys playing golf, guitar and reading. He also participated in the “Legacy on Ice” benefit at the Capital One Arena, supporting families and loved ones affected by the incident at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
