Biographical Information

Korey Dropkin began curling at the age of five, inspired by his family's involvement in the sport. He grew up honing his skills on the ice in Boston before moving to Duluth, Minnesota, where he continued to develop his curling career. Dropkin attended the University of Minnesota, competing on their curling team while pursuing his studies. Outside of curling, he is a licensed realtor, working in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Dropkin also enjoys giving back to the sport through mentoring young athletes and promoting curling across the U.S., as well as participating in philanthropy efforts with organizations such as the Challenged Athletes Foundation.

Olympic Highlights

Dropkin represented Team USA at the Innsbruck 2012 Youth Olympic Games, where he earned a bronze medal in the mixed doubles event with Marina Verenich and placed fifth in the mixed team event. While he has yet to compete at the senior Olympic level, Dropkin remains a strong contender to lead the U.S. men’s team in upcoming Games.

World Championship Highlights

In 2023, Korey Dropkin and Cory Thiesse made history as the first U.S. team to win gold in mixed doubles curling at the world championships. Their victory in Gangneung, South Korea ended a 20-year drought for the U.S. across all three Olympic curling events. The pair defeated Japan 8-2 in the final after a dominant playoff performance, securing a groundbreaking achievement for U.S. curling.

U.S. Championship Highlights

Dropkin is a three-time U.S. junior champion (2012, 2013, 2016) and led his team to the U.S. men’s championship title in 2021. Additionally, he has won the U.S. mixed doubles championship multiple times, demonstrating consistent excellence across multiple curling disciplines.

Early Career

Dropkin’s curling journey began in Boston, Massachusetts, where he developed his passion for the sport under the guidance of local curling clubs. By the age of 17, he had already secured his first U.S. junior championship title. His success on the junior stage laid the foundation for a prolific career, including participation in the Winter Youth Olympic Games and subsequent accomplishments on national and international stages.
