Stone

A retired U.S. Army NCO and member of the elite "7th Infantry's Light Fighter program" Stone started competing in nationally-sanctioned sports as part of a sports rehabilitation program. In 1997, he won his first international gold medal in the Can-American Games Team Pistol competition.

His shooting aspirations would lead him and his Michigan-based veterans team on many successful medal defenses, but it would be the crossover into archery, a secondary rehabilitation sport, that would take him to the birthplace of the Olympics. At the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, he won his first U.S. medal with two of his teammates, Aaron Cross and Jeff Fabry.

At the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, Stone competed in the men's individual recurve - W1/W2. Although he did not achieve his goal of reaching the podium as an individual medalist, he was successful in his quest to shoot his "highest scores ever" by setting two new U.S. records in the initial qualification rounds.

Stone is often called on to be an archery instructor at the U.S. Olympic Committee's Paralympic Military Sports Camps, as well as at other camps and clinics around the country.

• 2007: Gold medal, two national records, 70m, 90m - Czech Handy-Cup, Nove Mesto nad Metuji, Czech Republic
• 2005: U.S. Paralympics IPC Archery World Championships Team member - Massa-Carerra, Italy
• 2004: Bronze medal, Team Finals - Paralympic Games, Athens, Greece
• 2003: U.S. Paralympics IPC Archery World Championships Team member – Madrid, Spain
