Quick Facts
Partner: Caydee Denney
Prior to their short program at the 2009 U.S. Nationals, Caydee Denney and partner Jeremy Barrett were relative unknowns. After all, they had only been skating together since June 2008. But Denney and Barrett shocked the spectators that year in Cleveland, turning in a nearly-flawless short program, topping defending champs Keauna McLaughlin and Rockne Brubaker. Denney and Barrett wound up with the silver medal, qualifying them into the 2009 Worlds where they again defeated the U.S. champions, etching their names as early Vancouver contenders.
TOGETHER AGAIN
Denney and Barrett skated together briefly in 2006 until Denney, her mother and sister Hayden moved to Colorado in order for the sisters to develop their singles career. But the distance proved to be too great and the Denneys returned to Florida, when the pair reunited.
HOW IT BEGAN
Denney began skating at age 9 after switching from roller skating to ice skating and was the national juvenile roller singles champion and national elementary pairs roller champion. Her younger sister Hayden is also a pairs skater and both of Denney's parents were roller skating national champions.
Barrett was a pairs skater with his sister through 2001 and went on to win the 2004 Junior U.S. pair title. He coaches at his home rink in Florida to support his career. He's also driven the Zamboni and worked the concession stand.
