Hilary Knight is an American ice hockey player and one of the most decorated athletes in the sport. She was introduced to hockey at age five (when her family moved to Illinois) and told her grandmother she would one day play in the Olympics. She played college hockey at the University of Wisconsin, where she won an NCAA championship in 2009 and became one of the program’s all-time greats.
Knight made history in 2014 as the first female, non-goalie skater to practice with a National Hockey League team (the Anaheim Ducks). She also captained the 2023 U.S. Women’s World Championship team that took home the gold medal.
Off the ice, Knight is a leading advocate for gender equity in sports, playing a key role in the creation of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) and serves on the executive committee of the Professional Women’s Hockey League’s labor union. She is also passionate about promoting women’s sports and enjoys outdoor activities like skiing and mountain biking.
