Thompson graduated from East High School in Rochester, N.Y. in 2001, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated in the top 10-percent of her class. She graduated from Ohio State University in 2006 with a degree in Sociology and Criminology. She competed in fencing all four years while in college, where she was a four-time NCAA All-American and was a member of the 2004 national championship fencing team. She currently participates in the Home Depot Olympic Job Program. Hobbies include reading. Music that is currently on her i-Pod includes lots of Jack Johnson, the Beatles and a little bit of everything.
