Grayson Fertig began the sport of bobsled in 2003, making the national team three years later in the 2006-07 season. Fertig claimed the four-man National Championship title and the overall America's Cup title in 2007 before making his World Cup debut. Graduating from Middlebury College in Vermont with a B.A. in English (Creative Writing)/Studio Art in 2002, Fertig also competed on the NCAA Championship hockey team and the three-time NCAA Championship lacrosse team.

Grayson works as a personal trainer and a writer in New York City, N.Y. , where he lives on a sailboat during the offseason. "The chance to interact with Time intimately," is what interested Grayson in bobsledding, and his athletic career goals are "greatness and perfection- to achieve them as I define these ideals."
