- Father works as a carpenter and mother works as a teacher
- Started running track in 6th grade
- Competed in gymnastics starting as a 10-year-old but suffered injuries, but because of her speed on tumbling passes, her mother signed her up for track
- Says that hurdles come naturally as she was used to jumping and leaping from gymnastics
- Participated in service-mission trips with her church to aid the underprivileged
- Interested in studying physical therapy and working in sports medicine after competing in college and professionally
