Glorianne Perrier became an Olympic kayaker by accident, and in her first race, her task was simply to stay afloat and finish third in a field of three contestants.
In 1960, Gloria Perrier won the first U.S. National Championship in sprint kayaking. She repeated as K-1 champion in 1961 but then turned to the team events. In 1964, Perrier qualified for Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, where she went on to win a Silver Medal in K2 with Francine Fox.
Perrier was a graduate of George Washington University. She remained in Washington where she worked as an administrative clerk for the government.
