  • Is a native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
  • Arrived to the United States in 1986 and worked at NYU as a graphic designer

  • After the 9/11 attack, he joined the Army

  • On Oct. 20, 2009 while serving in Helmand Providence in Afghanistan, he was wounded in action when the vehicle in which he was riding in was hit by rocket fire. As a consequence of the injury, he lost his right leg above the knee

  • Took up handcycling as part of his rehabilitation

  • Has a true passion for art, whether the medium is graphic design or abstract painting

  • Paints abstract art to illustrate the psychological experiences he faced in combat

  • Married to Jeanette De Los Santos.
