Biographical Information

Erin Jackson is a world-class speedskater known for her versatility and determination. With roots in inline speedskating, she transitioned to ice in 2017 and quickly rose to prominence, qualifying for her first Winter Olympics within months of training. Her adaptability and athletic achievements have cemented her as a trailblazer in the sport.

Jackson holds a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Florida, graduating cum laude in 2015. She later pursued an Associate of Science in Computer Science from Salt Lake Community College, completing it in 2020. In her downtime, she enjoys hobbies such as running and appreciates her unique ability to sleep anytime, anywhere.

Olympic Highlights

Erin Jackson made her Olympic debut at the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Games, transitioning to ice speedskating just months prior. Her qualification was a testament to her adaptability and determination.

At the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games, Jackson made history as the first Black woman to win an Olympic gold medal in speedskating. She delivered a commanding performance in the 500-meter event, cementing her place as one of the sport’s top athletes. Her path to Beijing included a standout showing at the U.S. Olympic Trials, where she secured her qualification with a dominant performance.

World Championship Highlights

At the 2024 ISU World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships in Calgary, Canada, Erin Jackson earned a silver medal in the team sprint and finished fifth in the 500-meter event. This mirrored her success at the 2023 ISU World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships in Heerenveen, Netherlands, where she also claimed silver in the team sprint and placed fifth in the 500-meter race. Earlier achievements include a seventh-place finish in the 500 meters at the 2020 ISU World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships and a fourth-place result in the same event at the 2020 ISU Four Continents Speed Skating Championships.

Early Career

Erin Jackson began roller skating at a young age and transitioned to inline speedskating in 2002. She competed in roller derby in 2012 before switching to long track speedskating in 2017. Jackson joined the U.S. National Team for all three sports, representing Team USA in each discipline.
