Fun Facts: Emma took her first rowing strokes on a summer vacation visiting her aunt; from this
experience she was compelled to join the Purdue Crew Club… Emma would describe her
experience rowing at the Purdue Crew Club her greatest inspiration… Her coaches and
teammates facilitated an environment through which she could learn and practice true
diligence and dedication… Emma learned after her collegiate rowing experience that she
qualifies for the adaptive category because she has Erbs Palsy of the brachial plexus, a
nerve injury from birth that compromises muscle function and the ability to grasp, extend,
and reach with her left arm… The decision to be a part of the Paralympic program has
proven to be rewarding by providing her with opportunities to discover self-awareness and
achieve incredible athletic goals… When she is not rowing she enjoys spending time with
her family, cooking and, believe it or not, cleaning.
