Son of Todd Shellenberger, a USA Triathlon certified coach and age-group triathlete who has qualified for the World Championships at every distance from Sprint to Ironman, and Jamie Shellenberger, member of the USA Track & Field Junior Pan American Games team as a racewalker • Has one older sister, Erika • Participated in his first Triathlon at age 4 • Competed on the swim, cross-country and track teams at Southport High School • Favorite pre-race ritual is eating Papa John's cheese pizza the night before the race • Favorite thing about Triathlon is the many places he has traveled• Least favorite things about Triathlon are the heartbeat music on the ITU start line and arms overhead pose on the podium • Majoring in engineering at Arizona State and trains as part of USAT’s Project Podium with Coach Parker Spencer.
