• Has three siblings, Ally, Anna and Austin
• Was born with hemiplegic cerebral palsy, a condition which affects the right side of his body
• Participated in a number of sports growing up, including hockey, basketball, baseball and swimming
• Played soccer at Kalamazoo College on the first team as a central defender
• Was invited to train with the national team at a training camp and earned a spot on the team roster
• Prior to becoming a member of the U.S. national team, had flown only once in his life
• Hobbies include listening to country music and hanging out with friends.
