- Daughter of Sarah and Geoff Carey. Has a sister, McKay, and two brothers, Max and Will.
- Born in China with a severe club foot
- Was adopted and brought back to live in Idaho with her parents and siblings
- Underwent serial casting and surgery ultimately resulting in correction, however resulting in drop foot along with nerve damage
- Began pursuing adaptive sports after watching the Olympic Games London 2012 Within
- Began competing in Paratriathlon, track and field and swimming
- Her first competition was later that year at the Desert Challenge
