Biographical Information
Amber Glenn is an American figure skater and renowned for her many champion titles. Born in Plano, Texas, Glenn began skating at the age of five. Her parents, Richard and Cathlene, made considerable sacrifices to support her career, to which she accredits her success.
At the 2021 U.S. Championships, she won her first senior national medal (silver). In 2023, she placed fourth in the short program and third in the free skate. During the 2024 U.S. Championships, Glenn earned second place in the short program, second in the free skate and first overall.
That same year, Glenn won gold at the Lombardia Trophy and landed the highest score ever earned by an American woman at the 2024 Grand Prix de France after landing her triple Axel in the short program. She also placed second at the 2024 Cup of China and won first place overall in the free skate. At the Grand Prix Final in December, Glenn finished with the highest free skate score, earning her the title as the first American woman to win first place in nearly fifteen years.
An openly LGBTQ women’s single skater, she celebrates her sexuality and is an activist for Progressive Pride in professional sports. An active philanthropist, Glenn participated in the “Legacy on Ice” benefit to support the victims of the plane crash that occurred on Jan. 29, 2025 at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. She is also known for her advocacy for mental health, paving the way for a more inclusive figure skating environment.
