• Daughter of David and Elaine Johnston
• Has two sisters, Adrienne and Leah
• Engaged to Sam McGrath, an assistant football coach at Duke
• Abby began diving in 2002
• Was also a gymnast for nine years, but had to quit because of a back injury
• Abby made her second Olympic Team while balancing the rigors of medical school (She began med school at Duke in the fall of 2014 and will begin her third year after the Rio Olympic Games)
• While an undergraduate at Duke, she was enrolled in a pre-med program called CAPE and interned in the brain tumor clinic at Duke Hospital
• She earend a degree in psychology from Duke in 2013
• Hobbies include going to the beach, watching TV, playing tennis and soccer, and spending time with family and friends

Career Highlights

• Seven-time senior national champion (6 in synchronized 3-meter, 1 in individual 3-meter)
• Won the 2011 NCAA Championships on 3-meter to become Duke's first NCAA champion (in 2009, she became the first Duke diver to qualify for NCAAs)
• Four-time World Cup team member (2010, 2012, 2014, 2016)
• Finalist on 3-meter at 2010 World Cup
• Medaled in synchronized 3-meter in 11 international competitions with six different partners, dating back to 2008.
• 2009 World University Games team member

• 2-time Olympian; 1-time Olympic medalist (1 silver)
