Team USA came out on top at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, winning 126 total Olympic medals, with our athletes taking home 40 gold medals, 44 silver medals, and 42 bronze medals. China tied Team USA with 40 gold medals, but came up short in silver and bronze, leading to their second place finish with 91 total medals. In the previous Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020, Team USA also finished first, winning 39 gold medals, 41 silver medals and 33 bronze medals, for a combined total of 113 Olympic medals.
Track and field and swimming were our most winning categories, with track and field events contributing 34 total medals (14 gold, 11 silver, 9 bronze), and swimming contributing 28 (8 gold, 13 silver, 7 bronze). Virginia native Torri Huske won the most medals out of all of the Team USA athletes with 5 total medals including 3 gold and 2 silver. The other athletes that topped the charts include gymnast Simone Biles and swimmers Gretchen Walsh, Katie Ledecky and Regan Smith, all with 4 Olympic medals.
