Team USA Launches New Season of Next Olympic & Paralympic Hopeful, Presented By Got Milk?, As A Digital Series

by United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Team USA today announced the launch of Next Olympic & Paralympic Hopeful, presented by Got Milk?, as a fan-engagement program across Team USA’s digital platforms. The curated digital series features Olympians, Paralympians and hopefuls alongside TikTok fitness creators sharing athleticism and sport education with fans online.

This year marks the inclusion of Paralympic athletes, an exciting and important evolution of the program. The series kicks off this week on the heels of the world celebrating 100 days to the Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, opening August 24.

Now in the program’s fourth year, Next Olympic & Paralympic Hopeful, in partnership with Got Milk?, Milk-Bone® and Samsung, moves from a broadcast training competition series that originally aired on NBC to a social media program delivering unique sport and influencer content directly to fans.

“When TV production shut down last year, we saw a unique opportunity to feature athletes in their own moments, both the highs and the lows, as they pursue their dreams of becoming the next Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls,” said Dave Mingey, Senior Vice President, Partnership Management and Activation at U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Properties. “Knowing younger audiences already digest the majority of their entertainment online, we wanted to bring the art of training and competition to social media in an engaging way – where athletes are connecting directly with fans.”

For the next six weeks, fans will get to hear from athletes who are pursuing their Olympic and Paralympic dreams, and also put their own skills to the test with the #TeamUSATryout TikTok Challenge presented by Got Milk? Through athlete panels featuring past program participants, spotlight videos of Team USA athletes who have transferred from an elite sport to an Olympic or Paralympic sport, and athlete confessionals and fitness showdowns, the Next Olympic & Paralympic Hopeful program provides fans with an authentic look at what it takes both mentally and physically to represent Team USA on the global stage.

“We’re excited to sponsor the digital evolution of Next Olympic & Paralympic Hopeful and reach Gen Z with relevant and inspiring content in the lead up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020,” said Miranda Abney, Senior Director of Marketing at MilkPEP. “Milk has been fueling athletic performance for centuries; repairing, rehydrating and replenishing muscles and bodies, while also helping to build strong bones and support immune health, and we're proud to fuel Team USA athletes on their journey to greatness.”

Exclusive footage, athlete panels and social media challenges will be shared across Team USA’s website, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok.
