MEN'S FIELD HOCKEY AT THE PAN AM GAMES#

The U.S. Men’s National Team features a solid core of nine veteran athletes who saw action at the Pan American Games Lima 2019. Michael Barminski, Pat Harris, Ajai Dhadwal, Mohan Gandhi and Aki Kaeppeler also represented at the 2015 Pan American Games while in Dhadwal additionally competed in2011 in Mexico. They are looking to build off their bronze medal finish in the last edition, their firstmedal at the Pan American Games in 24 years.

During the 2019 Pan American Games, Team USA won bronze following a 24-year medal drought. Team USA has won bronze five times. The Argentina men’s team currently holds the top spot, having won ten of the 15 events. Canada comes in second, having won gold four times and silver eight times. The U.S. men’s team will face Canada on Oct. 27. and against Trinidad & Tobago and Brazil on Oct. 25 and Oct. 19, respectively.

• Pat Harris — The USMNT's most capped athlete at 162, Harris is a workhorse in the midfield. He hasrepresented the U.S. since 2000 and his commitment and passion make him a key contributor.
  
• Jonathan Klages — The USMNT’s goalkeeper, Klages is hard to miss between the pipes in his signature pink pads. He will keep games closes with his defensive, ninja-like skills.
  
• Aki Kaeppeler — Team USA’s go-to penalty corner specialist, Kaeppeler has perfected his craft at the "drag flick." The dangers of his scoring ability will be present as the Wolves strive for another medal.
  
• Jack Heldens — A newcomer on the senior scene, Heldens was only named to the squad in Sept. 2022. He has made an immediate impact with his ability to score at any angle.

The winner of the men’s tournament at the 2023 Pan Am Games qualifies for the Olympic Games Paris 2024. The teams that come in second and third will be placed in an FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier in January 2024.
